Community Engagement for Health Clinics

Community engagement at a health clinic is more than the marketing function. It is the discipline that determines whether patients show up to appointments, complete preventive screenings, and trust the clinic enough to bring the rest of the family.

The challenge

Health clinic engagement work usually defaults to one-off campaigns — a vaccine drive, an open house, a public health awareness month. Those matter, but they do not build the patient relationship by themselves. The relationship-building work is the routine: how appointment reminders read, how post-visit follow-up arrives, how a family member of a patient experiences the clinic's communications without being a patient themselves.

What I deliver

Where the work connects to my career

FIU's Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work is housed within a major public-health-facing institution. The communications and community-engagement work I led there involved exactly this kind of routine relationship-building, applied at scale across research, programs, and outreach to general audiences.

"The relationship-building work is the routine. How appointment reminders read. How post-visit follow-up arrives. How a family member of a patient experiences the clinic without being a patient."

Patient communications that build trust, not just compliance.
